A native of Victoria, Canada, Dr. Tolson received his medical degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He then moved his family to Phoenix where he completed his family medicine residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and the Medical Council of Canada, Dr. Tolson worked as an emergency physician before becoming a family doctor.

In addition to providing care to children, adolescents, adults and seniors, he has garnered additional expertise in sports medicine, women's health and the care of chronic conditions such as diabetes, allergies, asthma and osteoporosis. Dr. Tolson is an accomplished software developer and has designed and written a computerized electronic health record. He has authored a book on lifestyle and weight management and is the creator of Thin Habits, a lifestyle management program. An avid runner and musician, Dr. Tolson also enjoys coaching his kids’ soccer teams.
